I, Antigone

Title
I, Antigone
Description
I, Antigone from Jean Anouilh's Antigone, with additional writing by Ketsia Velaphi & Ntumekelelo Siyepu.

The body of Polynices, Antigone's brother, has been ordered to remain unburied by Creon, the new king of Thebes. Antigone's faithfulness to her dead brother and his proper burial, and her defiance of the dictator Creon, seals her fate. Movement is central in this work and it functions as a device that takes the narrative forward and also as a theatrical language that attempts to give expression to.

The vocabulary used in this work is movement which unfolds in very particular ways when we think about it in relation to the text. Movement is the heartbeat of this work and it’s used very intentionally as a theatrical language that gives expression to Antigone's rage.
