This map shows plans for the reclamation of the Foreshore in Cape Town in 1902. Since then, the entire area of the Victoria Basin has been filled in. This shows the old Adderley Street pier and jetty – the small fishing harbour that used to be in the centre of Cape Town. The striped sections indicate depths (measured in fathoms) that needed to be filled in. Sand, rocks and boulders are also illustrated.
