Biography
Fleur du Cap winner, Nceba Gongxeka was born in Cape town and is an indigenous musical instrument player who has been performing and increasing this musical genre since 1985 till now.
He has worked alongside a variety of different well-known musician such as Sylvia Mdunyelwa, Dizu Plaatjies, Lungoswa Plaatjies, Pops Mohammed, Abavuki to mention few.
In the theatre industry, Nceba has worked under the directorial supervision of Mandla Mbothwe in shows such as Talking Souls, The Kraal, Ityala. He has also worked with Lara Foot doing Fishers of hope for which he won the Fleur du Cap (2015) for Best Original Score and Sound.
Internationally, Nceba has also collaborated with Professor Neyi and Tagu from the USA doing Miriam Makeba the Legacy. Additionally, he has toured abroad to places such as Canada, USA, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zanzibar to name a few.
