Depicts battle between the Grahamstown Corps and tribesmen, April 1846, during the Seventh Frontier War (War of the Axe). Shows warriors armed with rifles and swords in the foreground and on high ground on the right, and men of the Grahamstown Corps in the middle distance and to the left in dense undergrowth. On the left is a large treee and in the foreground, on the right, two tribesmen are seen removing the boots and jacket from the body of Captain Norden.
