Hiddingh Hall is a beautiful venue with wooden floors, large windows and a small stage, ideal for conferences, seminars, musical performances or formal gatherings. The Drama Department has in the past also used it extensively for theatrical performances and have welcomed international artists into the space.
The Hiddingh Parking Lot is predominantly for use by UCT Staff and Students who have paid an annual fee for a parking disc. However, on some occasions the space is used for performances or after hours, it can be rented should there be an event on campus by an external party.
The P3 Studio is a black box ideal for rehearsals and/or movement classes. The space can be blacked out by tabs. It is situated in the old Workshop building.
The P4 Studio is a black box ideal for rehearsals and/or movement classes but is also considered the fourth theatre space on campus. It can seat approximately 85 people. The space can be blacked out by tabs. It is situated in the old Workshop Building.
The Playroom is predominantly a teaching and rehearsal space, but has on occasion been used for smaller productions. It contains wooden flooring and big windows with two entrances.
The Rehearsal Studio is ideal for large scale rehearsals, movement classes and/or installation pieces. It often contains temporary seating space for an audience and is situated in the old Commerce Building on campus.
The Arena Theatre is an adaptable theatre space with removable seating. Performances can be done in a conventional seating array, side-seating, in-the-round or thrust-seating array. The theatre has a dressing room and balcony and a foyer with a bar. It has a well equipped sound system and can seat up to 70 people, depending on the seating arrangement.
The Bindery Lab is a traditional black box with removable seating. The theatre has its own dressing room adjacent to the space. It has a sound system and can seat up to 82 people, depending on the seating arrangement.
The Little Theatre is a fully-fledged theatre space with a proscenium arch, built-in seating, an
existing lighting rig and sound system, a foyer with a cash bar, as well as dressing rooms.
It seats 210 people when fully booked.
The Little Theatre is supported by the Drama Department’s Workshop and Wardrobe.
