Description
On the 26th of March 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a nationwide lockdown, due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus. A week before the nationwide lockdown the University of Cape Town closed its doors. All studies were put on hold and ‘Online learning’ was set to be the new normal. As quickly as lockdown had begun, choreographers had taken to teaching dance classes online, on already existing social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram. How did the shift from the ‘physical dance class’ to the ‘online dance class’ affect dance pedagogy as we know it to be? How do we create an intimate, emotionally connected, and close to real experience in the online dance space? This 'slice of life' performance aims to 'reflect' the impact of the Coronavirus on the dance industry. Through live and online performance, I wish to show the intricacies of how choreographers and dancers are navigating the online space and trying to maintain a connection, both technologically and emotionally. Please stay safe and do not forget to sanitize...
