eng The map shows German, British and Portuguese territories in southern Africa including South Africa, Rhodesia, the Bechuanaland Protectorate, Basutoland, Gasa Land, the South African Republic, the Orange Free State and other territories including Damaraland, Namaland, Korannaland, Khama's Reich and Setscheli's Reich. It also shows national boundaries and British troop transport routes from Plymouth and Portsmouth round the Cape of Good Hope to Durban and Delagoa Bay and the onward route to Bombay, India. The key shows forts and fortifications, the concentration of English and Boer troops, the position of the German colonial forces, battles in the revolutionary wars of 1880-81, English railways in the Boer states and other railway companies or constructions, undersea cables and telegraph lines, and German and British steamship routes.
