Observantien vande Keyserlyke Praktyke by Andreas Gail, 1583. The earliest book in the Brand van Zyl collection, consisting of a compilation of the legal sources of the town Leiden. Andreas Gail (1525 - 1587) was a German judge in Cologne who greatly influenced the Dutch jurists in the 17th century. There are only three copies of this book in South Africa of which one is in the Van Zyl collection.
