Kykoedie, -Dy
The KY and interactions are probably like Old-Cape Kei, Nama Gei [Kail = Great. For the koed, we received no direct assistance, but indirectly we did have some detectors. Consultation of the Topo Cadastral Series 1965 Skin 3420 Riversdale, which includes Bredasdorp and Swellen Dam, shows the large number of farms around viewing that -klip- as ingredient, eg. Blue stone, Klipdale, Klipbank, Klipfontein, also a Klipbank River and Klipdrif River, some still in Dutch spelling, d.w.s. Relatively old (stone drift etc.) The Dutch names are, of course, one of two, originally or translation. In old names, they are perplexable sale translations. We believe that this is the case that viewo as a 'relic' the earlier condition at least preserves. Then the member kedie will probably be like Ou-Cape Coe, Co-etc .. For 'stone', such as Nama ǀ UI-S, plural ǀ UI-DI, which in the Old Cape dialects kept the earlier field K- Still, D.W.S. Nama ǀ Ui-di = stones are in Old Cape (ǀ) Kui-di. Then seekoedie is declared, as far as we may have, as 'the place where there is large (KY) stones (ǀ Kuidi)'.
