The piece of name history may be new. Its existence is confirmed by Dr A. Smith.

afr ] 'Melkbos' is in Nama gui-; in ’n Oos-Kaapse dialek het Thunberg 1773 die plantnaam opgeteken as kuijo-p, gehoor ongeveer dieselfde tyd as Gordon die riviernaam gehoor het, maar dit val op dat Gordon hier 'n aksentteken skryf om 'n suigkonsonant te verteenwoordig wat Nama nie meer het nie en ook Thunberg nie vermeld nie. Die stukkie naamgeskiedenis is moontlik nuut. Die bestaan daarvan word bevestig deur dr A. Smith.
