eng The farms 'Kouma', 'Kougas Gorge' and 'Koumas angle' form a toponic unit that runs about northeast southwest. Over all the farms, the 'Kouma River' flows from the northeast. The river just emerges north of 'Kougas Corner' and on the adjacent farm 'ox corner' no guy. Q. 1-16. We believe 'ox corner' form the northernmost link of the toponimic chain. 'OS' is in Nama Goma- (Kr. First component a direct translation from Khoens, and the other hybrid compositions with 'Coupa' as a first component are also translatable as 'OS'.

afr Die plase 'Kouma', 'Koumas Kloof' en 'Koumas Hoek' vorm ‘n toponi- miese eenheid wat ongeveer noordoos-suidwes loop. Oor al die plase vloei die 'Koumarivier' vanuit die noordooste. Die rivier ontspring net noord van 'Koumas Hoek' en wel op die daarby aangrensende plaas 'Osse Hoek' nr Ou. Q. 1-16. Ons meen 'Osse Hoek' vorm die noordelikste skakel van die toponimiese ketting. 'Os' is in Nama goma- (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 110) wat taalkundig volkome vereenselwig kan word met 'Kouma'; vir die wisseling van g en k vgl. TH A* 42 by 5 A 3. 'Osse Hoek' is dus in sy eerste komponent ’n direkte vertaling uit Khoekhoens, en die ander hibridiese samestellinge met 'Kouma-' as eerste komponent is dus ook vertaalbaar as 'Os-'.
