Op Karatara is nou ’n poskantoor en motorbushalte (roete Knysna-George, 40 km van e.g.) Naam het in onbruik geraak; die 'wit' is sekondêr, d.w.s. dit is afgelêi van 'askleurig', by tsao-b = as. Tsao-b is oordragtelik ook die 'Melkweg' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 379), gesien as wit assies. Die 'as' kan ook betrekking he op die as-, ook genoem brak- of loogbos. Vgl. bv.
