Nagas(Rivier)
The river is not in the area of the Namas, but the intention of the spokesman is clear: the name is presumably from Khoekhens. Nagas- is also a misfortune. It should have been NoAgas (River). The river runs westwards in the Groot River, by the farm 'Noaga' which is again west of the farm 'Noagas height' and north of the farm 'Noaga's mountain'. On the section 1890 of Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth, the river is spelled correspondingly 'Noachas River'. All over the farms Noaga and especially Noaga's mountain le 'Blaauw cup' and 'Blaauwkop Rante', both farms. The Dutch element 'Blaauw' shows that the Dutch names are old and stem from the pre-African time. Blaauw is our 'blue'. Nama for blue is ╪hoa (Rust 1960 DNW 11), of which the old Cape version will be (╪) Noa. The foundation of the names on Noa and on Blaauw- is the blue stone banks. The -ga in Noaga (s) is like Nama -Xa- and indicates a large amount, here of bluebanks. Nagas, Better Noagas River is therefore the river running through an area where there are many (-ga di -XA ) Bluebanks (╪noa) is, or else, the river running through the farm Noaga where there are many bluebanks.
