eng Gordon is on his way to Beervlei. They are past the eastern end of Swartberg and now go north. So they come in 'Nebe, a gorge and a mountain. The Khoekhozen name was translated by him as 'White (Cloof)' or, where it is in the first quote in direct contrast with Swartberg, then as 'white (mountain)'. The NAB (b) E (e) is preceded by a suction consonant. We must therefore reconcile the (-) nebulae with a Khoekhoian word meaning 'white'. The closest we come to this is to connect the (-) to Namaǃ Na-B = 'Light (Allg.)' (Rest 1960 DNW 39), LG. white (seizing). Cfg. More Nadow and Naudau where the member is also translated with 'white'. This Nebel correlates with the 'Witteberg' at 3323 BC (not with the 'Witteberg' at 3323 BA / BB, because he is too far north Le T.O.V. Beervlei or Kariga where Gordon is on away). In addition, Witteberg is meant in squared BC on Gordon's card, according to 'stretch', its term. This is full of Willow Morning. Nabe then translates Witberg, which forms a contrast with Swartberg, and which, appears to be his Dutch element 'white'. The entry with 'White' still occurs on the Topo Cadastral Series 1969 sheet 3322, but on the topographical skin of 1973 it reads to 'Witberg'. On which the color impression support, we do not know ourselves.

afr Gordon is op pad na Beervlei. Hulle is verby die oostelike punt van Swartberg en gaan nou noordwaarts op. So kom hulle in 'Nabe, ’n kloof en ’n berg. Die Khoekhoense naam daarvan is deur horn vertaal as 'Witte (Cloof)' of, waar dit in die eerste aanhaling in direkte teensteliing met Swartberg is, dan as 'Witte (gebergte)'. Die Nab(b)e(e) word voorafgegaan deur 'n suigkonsonant. Ons moet die (-)nabe- dus versoen met ’n Khoekhoense woord wat 'wit' beteken. Die naaste wat ons hieraan kom is om die (-)na-be te verbind met Nama ǃna-b = 'licht (allg.)' (Rust 1960 DNW 39), lg. wit (skynend). Vgl. nog NADOW en NAUDAU waar die lid Na- ook vertaal is met 'wit'. Hierdie Nabe korreleer met die 'Witteberg' op 3323 BC (nie met die 'Witteberg' op 3323 BA/BB nie, omdat hy te ver noord le t.o.v. Beervlei of Kariga waarheen Gordon op weg is). Bowendien word Witteberg in kwadraatstuk BC op Gordon se kaart bedoel, volgens 'strekking', sy term. Dit le suidelik van Willow- more af. Nabe vertaal dan Witberg wat ’n teensteliing met Swartberg vorm, en wat, blykens sy Nederlandse element 'Witte-' oud is. Die inskrywing met 'Witte-' kom nog voor op die Topo-kadastrale reeks 1969 vel 3322, maar op die Topografiese vel van 1973 lees dit al verafrikaans tot 'Witberg'. Waarop die kleurindruk steun, weet ons self nie seker nie.
