Topographic and toponimies would be patterned that the gate bear the same name as the river flowing through Horn. We believe this is the case, at least partially. 'Cheri' is like Nama Tsoari. Behind, 'Hinter Drain' (Rust 1960 DNW 31); It correlates with the first component of the river name. The second member of Cheridouws port. nl. -Douws-, is like Nama daos, = port, 'PForte' (Rust 47), so that the added 'port' is toutological. 'Cheridouws port' literally means 'backpoort port'.
