Gaitu
The 'Gaitu', a stream at Riebeeck East in the Albany district, is reported on the topographical series 1968 sheet 3326 Grahamstown as 'gxetu'. The bolope of the Gaitu flows over the farm 'Vaalkrans' No. Aly. Q. 2- 37. 'Vaal' is in Nama ǀ Hi [ǀ hai] (Rest 1960 DNW 20). With the well-known change of G and H (cf. th a * 5 c 4) it may seem that the first member of the name Gaitu 'Vaal' may mean, m.a.w. That 'Vaal Krans' ('Vaalkrans' on the said topographical map) can be translated at least in his first member from the Khoekhound. Also on topographical soil is a connection between Gaitu and Vaalkrans possible, because the two names belong to the same naming group. 'Gxetu' is in the case a Khoekhozen name that is now spelled according to the Xhosa ruling, also with another slap (as if the Khoekhoian Word was 11gaitu).
