Skead CJ 1979 Brief 'Soso River rises on Bowden farm (formerly Klip- plaatsfontein) and runs through Vogelfontein (now Keeviston) and English Drift farms to the Koonap River, 42 km NNW Grahamstown, 25 km SW of Fort Beaufort... Soso is not Xhosa...The inference seems to point to a pejorative assessment of the river’s status, e.g. it is hardly a river, only a so-so river.
