Gomee

Forbes 1965 PTSA 20 Identify the place like this: '... The current name is clearly a translation of the old native name, but it is difficult to connect with our well-known word inventory. This includes misconduct to the components of the Old Cape Choa Chamma = Baboon (Witsen 1691), cf. Hott 221, but it makes us unsatisfied. The word has also been poorly transferred, we do not know or stand by Beutler Gorne or Gomee. Fortunately, about the meaning, no doubt prevails, Beutler provided. Cfg. Also Du Plessis 1973 investigates 201 Branch of the Grootfish River, Dist. Bedford.

afr Forbes 1965 PTSA 20 identifiseer die plek so: '...at noon (they) reached the big river Gorne, Gomee or Baviaans, still known by the latter name'. Die woord is bowendien swak oorgelêwer, ons weet nie of by Beutler Gorne staan of Gomee nie. Bedford.
