Ghaap(Kop)
Ghaapkop lies on the Koekemoers River and on the southern slopes of the Newland Mountains. The name Ghaap thinks of the Trichocaulon piliferum that was so important in the life of the old Khoekhoen. The Word passed into Afrikaans and English. Perhaps the name of the head refers to the Ghaap as a field food, but we point out a striking here. Just south, and near, le 'poisoned' (on dB), then northwest (on ba), also reasonably close, le 'poison gloss', and further western (on ac) there is another 'poison head'. The poison plant is In this area of the Nuweveld Mountains, such as. from many Afrikaans place names with ingredient 'GIF' also appears. 'Gif' is in Namaǃ Ga-B [ǃ Gha-b] (Rest I960 DNW 27). Everything Taken. Looks like this Ghaapkop in his first part 'poison' means the whole equal to the Afrikaans 'poison head'.
