Pettman 1931 SAPN 34-5 'A small branch of the Olifants Rivier, Clanwilliam district, C.P., mentioned by Le Vaillant...the Dutch name translates the Hottentot, the root of which appears to be the word ǃgou, to cross, to go across'.
