In 1927, Mossop said that Langvlei is Olifantsjagt Valley (Old Cape Highways 156); In his map at Bergh 1682-3's route standing opposite the old name Tythou the name Brakke Valley of Van der Stel 1685, and in a footnote at the present name Jakkalsrivier. None of the four names (Langvlei, Olifantsjagvallei, Brakvallei and Jakkalsrivier) let them commit from the well-known word inventory with peace of mind and acceptable with Tythou.
