If so, Is the -ro-Probably the diminutive morpheme. The lock-on is locativating, the -s being the exit fern, singing., lived at fountains. 'Melkbos (sis) fountain' is then a direct translation of 'biroes' . Linguistically and topographically, it seems to be a connection, the phenomenon has met us more. At the corresponding topographical map 1971, the name 'Biroeskraal' appears as 'Bu-Roeskraal

Biroeskraal' is plaas nr Clw. Q. 1-3, dist. Clanwilliam, net suidoos van Graafwater. Aan die noordwestelike punt word Biroeskraal begrens deur 'Melkbosfontein', plaas nr 1952-293-14625. In Nama is vir melkbos opgeteken bi- (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 39). Die vraag is of die eerste lid van die naam 'Biroeskraal', nl. Bi-, nie verband hou met die lid 'Melkbos-' van 'Melkbosfontein' nie. Indien wel, is die -ro- waarskynlik die diminutief- morfeem. Die slot -es is lokativerend, die -s synde die uitgang fern, sing., gewoon by fonteine. 'Melkbos(sies)fontein' is dan ’n regstreekse vertaling van 'Biroes'. Taalkundig en topografies lyk dit asof daar wel ’n verband kan wees, die verskynsel het ons meermale teegekom. Op die ooreenstem- mende Topografiese kaart 1971 kom die naam 'Biroeskraal' voor as 'Bu- roeskraal
