In the discussion there is the possibility raised that it relates to Nama Ma-Re = 'Give, please', 'Mom' = 'Give me', and make the comment: 'The particular view comes true of the whites'. The name also appears as 'Tamata', cf. Slead CJ 1973 Gazette 185. It falls in the Transkey since their independence.

HOLT B 1959 PNTT 26-7 'QAMATA (Properry Qamatha) port, Near Saint Marks, is or Hottentot-Bushman Origin. Qamatha was a name for the deity Employed in The Aboriginal Prayers, Butt of this little is Known. ' [In 1880, an old Native Juju gave a description of how this deity was called in times of trespass, about as when whenever blanket pray God.] 'We Considered That Qamata was The Great Spirit, Greater Even Than the Spirits of Our Chiefs ... Miskien is hier te dink aan die wese wat Buttner 1716 ms 68a aangee as 'Mathee' en wat hy beskryf as 'gott' (vgl. HOTT 284). In die bespreking daar is die moontlikheid geopper dat dit verband hou met Nama ma-re = 'gee, asseblief', 'ma te' = 'gee my', en die opmerking gemaak: 'Die bepaalde siening kom blykbaardan van die Blankes'.
