Bidouw, Bitouw, where the quotes of Gordon, Barrow and Van Reenen probably relate to this 'Widouw' and 'Wiedouri four' south of Vanrhynsdorp. The 'Wiedour River' originates at the Spitsberg and Runner High and flows in north-western direction over the farm 'Widouw' no wor. Q. 7-22, Dist. Vanrhynsdorp, to water from Vredendal in the Olifants River. The 'Doorn River' referred to in some of the mentioned quotes is probably the Doring River that flows from the east between the Gif Mountains and the Nardous Mountains and south of Klawer in the Olifants River. That 'bi (e) dew (w)' and 'wi (e) dew (w)' allofone is normal; For change B and W cf. Th a * 43 by 5 b 1. We believe that the place names should be explained as Biedou, Biedout River) at 3219 AB, viz. as 'Melkbospoort'.
