Daunis, Daunis(Kloof)

Unknowing fountain still exists as a name for farm wor.q.4-66 on K 3119 dB and lie between the current farm Downes Clw.q.2-28 and the sidelines Down on Tra- Jek Calvinia-Carnarvon, 3119 BD. The adjoining Downes West 8275/1956 did arise through subdivision. The names downes are apparently formed from the older daunis for, among other things, a river or run, also a fountain or water, and the gorge. Whether ignorant fountain translates the old name, we don't know anymore. If so, as we suspect provisionally, the linguistic relationship from the existing stock is not very convincing. Also, if it shines that Daunis was originally Khoekhens. We suspect that the people's nettimological downs are summarized here as personal name.
