Nousies
Kaalpruit and Nousies South' is farm No. Q. 20-23, Dist. Calvinia. We have often found that where such composite names occur, the Afrikaans component can be the translation of the Khoekhoen fell. North of the farm 'Kaalspruit and Nousies South' is 'Rooiberg Drift' No. Civ. Q. 20-24, northeast of it and adjacent is 'Rooiberg' No. Still indicated 'Rooiberfrif's head', 'Great Redberg', 'Rooibergan River', 'Little Redberg', 'Little Redberg West' and 'Little Rooiberg River', all north of noses. It makes us suspect that the member may now be nousies like Namaǃ Now- [Nau-] = (red) ocher (Rest 46) can be. Linguistically and topographical seem possible, and that the red condition of the bottom is widespread, also speaks of the place names 'Red saw', 'Redman' and 'Redmans site' southeast of noses. The member -ies of 'neous' are a locative morpheme.
