Obees
Farm No Nam.q. 11-6, Dist. Namaqualand, on it a pan 'Oubeespan', and north le the farm 'Bitterfontein', and partly on it the pan 'Bitterfonteinpan'. There seems little doubt that this obese, exchange ruling guy in the name of the pan there on the farm, means 'bitterfontein', such as Nama Ou ǀ au] = 'Bitter' (Rest 1960 DNW 11), and -bee-s If pan-nominant suffix in this area, simply as a locative at open waters. The farm Bitterfontein Nam.q.11-2, spelled as registered 'bitter fountain', is apparently old and may have arisen as subdivision of the old and closed Strong obese, ie it is well possible that his Afrikaans name is translated. Interesting to note that this farm name is spelled on the corresponding topographical map 1974 as 'old beef', two words, which now looks like a pure African name , nettimologically developing obese or guy.
