Dabedommi

Dabidom is farm no. Q. 7-5, District Namaqualand. It is another place than Dabedom we discussed in th a * 296-297; That place is north of Warmbaths in South West Africa, at 2718 dB. About this farm 'Dabidom' runs a non-perennial river, a tributary of the heartbreeding, from east to west. It is probably from this river that the farm got its name; '-Dom' is 'throat' (Rust 1960 DNW 34), Transfer also 'River (CA), run'. We believe the first member of the name, viz. 'Dabi', must be declared as Nama Dabe- = ' Brak, 'cf. Dabeb th a * 296, Debe th a * 313 etc. We land our suspicion on the many place names in the area indicating the salt or brackish stance, eg. 'Soutberg', 'BrakKefontein' etc.

afr Dabidom is plaas nr Nam. Q. 7-5, distrik Namakwaland. DABEB TH A* 296, DEBE TH A* 313 ens. 'Soutberg', 'Brakkefontein' ens.
