Description
eng Bitter River, already mentioned on the section 1891, flows south from the mountains and suddenly turns right angles west to the ocean. Where he makes his elbow at the rectangle, on the west side of Garies, is 'curve fountain', farm no Clw. Q. 7-26, and on the map SA 1972 scale 1:50 000 Skin 3017 DB Garies, with location The Bitter River is inserted 'outiep'. The element -ti (e) - is an ordinary locative morpheme. The -P of the ML. EKV. Is the Genustration of O.A. Mountain and river names, here, of a river name, because old [au] is Nama for 'bitter', and Auti are nothing but the old inland name for 'Bitter River'. afr Bitterrivier, reeds so genoem op die Afdelingskaart 1891, vloei suidwaarts af van die berge en draai skielik reghoekig weswaarts na die oseaan.
