Anthon(Veld), Antonikwa(Land)

As far as we could determine, we do not know the names of Anthonveld and Anthonikwaland this day. From this regard, we can assume that they are Khoekhens, and also Swellengrebel's form seems to confirm it, viz. The country of the Anthonikwa, D.I. Of the people (people) of the Anthoni, apparently here a stem name. Two Witnesses of the Ground Shape Anthon (I) - make it quite unlikely to think of an overload of Outeni (Kwa), with a -n- i.p. A -u-. Relying to this conception could have been the fact that Anthonveld lies north of the Outeniqua Mountains. Forbes thinks sound axis sociative to an exchange form of Hantam. This is possible, and also Raper 1972 points to Regional Names 39. But Forbes stops the trouble that Hantam K 3119 at Calvinia le, west of Sparrman's Anthonveld here in the southeast of the Cape. And yet forbes can be equal if he takes the other uses of geographical name Hantam. Hantam at Calvinia is called, cf. It also treatment at us (Hantam). There is another second Hantam that Dr Raper 1972 RegionalName 56 As follows reported 'New Hantam, located in the current District Colesberg, was a field cornet in the 19th century, but later became a regional name. This name was transferred by Dopperpioniers of the Hantam in Calvinia when they settled in the Colesberg district '. As far as this second region does not include the following, there is a third Hantam, viz. those of Sparrman, Swellengrebel and untouched. He is distinguished from Hantam and New Hantam as Great Hantam. Slipped 1973 Gazette 73 Define it as follows 'Districts of Colesberg, Venterstad, Burgersdorp, Richmond, Steynsburg and Noupoort, in North-East Cape'. Hantam in Calvinia is then Klein-Hantam. What is the primary form, Hantam and Anthon (i) -, we do not know, fact is that Anthonveld is currently recorded as Great Hantam, with CJ Severad as our authority. Ewem knows we know with certainty or Anthon (i) - so to be Hantam. It comes to us whether the form Anthon (I) - primer may be the name of a tribe and only accidentally preserved in the old place name, but that it could pass due to the insignificance of the tribal in the more common name of the Food that granted his name to the Hantam Mountains, cf. Hantam. If it is precisely, then both forms of primer, Anthon (I) and Hantam, but the latter took over his opponent.

’n -u-. Hantam by Calvinia is genoem, vgl. ook die behandeling daarvan by ons (HANTAM). Skead 1973 Gazetteer 73 omskryf dit soos volg 'Districts of Colesberg, Venterstad, Burgersdorp, Richmond, Steynsburg and Noupoort, in North-east Cape'. Ewemin weet ons met sekerheid of Anthon(i)- so te verklaar is as Hantam.
