Tboop
Today farms civ. Q. 19-35 (T'bop) and CIV. Q. 17-5 (T'boop North), District Calvinia, northwestern of Brandvlei, and adjacent to Carthead and Katkoppkolk. Dr of Vredes 1961 Origin treats the name. We didn't get any indication of the meaning. If we look at the old ever-returning pattern, then it is possible that T'boop is the old Khoekhoense name of 'clover (Vley)', the adoptive farm, here on the south side. We cannot test this linguistically, because our data does not contain the nama word for 'clover'. The names of the other adjacent farms can test our linguistically, but then with negative result. We assume that t'bop from Khoekhens can Come, including the T- who will represent a sucking consonant. As a farm name, Klawervlei no longer appears on the topo-cadastral series 1967 sheet 3018 Loeriesfontein, even if the name of the Saltvlei at the beginning of the Salt River. This Klawvlei is the most important place in the BB block of this grade square (cf. Skin 3019 Bb of pomegranate crown, scale 1:50 000). Census card's farm 'Clover Vley' is now enrolled as 'Commissioner's Vley' on the said cadastard card 1967. Digitances seem to plead for t'bop between survival in the first component of the pannaam Klawernvlei.
