Kapsvlei' is farm No 10018/1946, District Calvinia. It is on the constant topographical map 1974 the name 'Kwimvlei', and on the 1:50 000 series 1974 Skin 3019AA Swabic 'Kwimvlei', and northeast of 'Cape Vlei'. We believe that 'Cape Vlei' is a people's nettimological or otherwise an analogous adaptation of the name 'Kapsvlei', and that 'Kwaaivlei' in his first member is the translation of 'capsvlei'. In addition to the topographical agreement, a linguistic relationship can also be laid. The member 'cap' of Kapsvlei is then as Nama ╪kaw (a) = 'evil' (Rust 1960 DNW 12), also 'Streit, Zank' (Krenz), for the change of -W and -b / p - cf. Th * 42 at 5 a 1.

Daarop is op die oor- eenstemmende Topografiese kaart 1974 die naam 'Kwaaivlei', en op die 1:50 000 reeks 1974 vel 3019AA Swabies 'Kwaaivlei', en noordoos daar- van 'Kaapse Vlei'. Ons meen dat 'Kaapse Vlei' ’n volksetimologiese of anders 'n analogiese aanpassing van die naam 'Kapsvlei' is, en dat 'Kwaaivlei' in sy eerste lid die vertaling van 'Kapsvlei' is. Naas die topografiese ooreenkoms kan daar ook ’n taalkundige verband gelê word.
