Saraip
Saraip' is farm no. Q. 12-24, District Namaqualand. In the north-west direction, also according to the corresponding topographical map 1974, the non-perennial 'Saraip's lows'. This river run originated about south of 'Dustvlei'. It seems as if 'Dustvlei', 'Saraip's lows' and 'Saraip' form a toponimic chain. In addition to the topographical connection, there may also be a linguistic agreement between the names. 'Fabric' is in Nama Tsara (Rust 1960 DNW 58), 'Staub ... in the Luft Strue' is Sari (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 341). It may then seem that 'Saraip' can be a contraction of (t) sari-ei - / (t) Sara-ei-; Ei- [Ai] = 'face', 'front', 'plain' (Kr.-. 60). If precisely, we have a case where the Afrikaans component of a toponimic core group (sometimes only partial) translation of the Khoekhoian component is. The lock -p / b is the mascot. Sing, and indicate as such that the longest valley was toponimies primer and that the name was only later transferred to the farm.
