Nougat (Pass)
This pass or port correlates with Nauga 2922 in location and also, apparently the communication of Pettman he joins Moffat, in meaning (ocharlip). Due to the triple bond of location, meaning and sound agreement, we doubt Pettman's assertion that the -gat is an Afrikaans ingredient in the first instance. It is obviously a whole nethymological adaptation to the -ga- of Nauga = the 'place rich (XA) to ocher (ǃ Nau-)', a paint clip obtained from the Doringberg where it was excavated and through which a 'Gat' originated, a hole with which the -ga coincided in sound due to the equality in sound and applicability.
