SA 1:50 000 1975 Skin 2920 CA Lekdam. Then it comes before that Blinkvlei is a translation of Nabies, connectively to Namaǃ Na- = 'Light', orǃ Na = 'Leuchten' (Rust 1960 DNW 39). The -bie locates, the Fern. Sing, - Leave here The Vlei / Pan / Floor.

Dagabsleegte kom uit die noordweste af na Grootvloer, ongeveer van Ko- rannakolk af. Onderkant Korannakolk is op die ou kaarte ingeskryf 'Nabies', op moderne kaarte korreleer dit met 'Blinkvlei', vgl. o.a. SA 1:50 000 1975 vel 2920 CA lekdam. Dan kom dit ons voor dat Blinkvlei 'n vertaling is van Nabies, verbindbaar met Nama ǃna- = 'licht', of ǃna = 'leuchten' (Rust 1960 DNW 39). Die -bie- lokativeer, die fern. sing, -s sig- naleer hier die vlei/pan/vloer.
