Kr.- R. 1969 NW 11 for ǀ AIB etc. The y-in ice, English pronunciation, is the 'Kolk (-s) where (-si-) the tontelbos, or firebos (ǀ ae) occur'. The current name 'Tonelboskolk' for a 'floor' There translates the old name ice that is still the name of the farm is east of the - Swirling.

Deur die plaas loop ook 'Soutdwaggaslaagte'. Westelik van die plaas le 'Tontelboskolk' (Topo-kadastrale kaart 1966 vel 2918 Namies). Smith 1966 CNSAP 465 se o.m. 'The vernacular name survives in such places as ...Tontelboschkolk, probably from the abundance of Asclepias fruticosa...' Die tontelbos se kapok is gebruik om vuur te maak, dit was ’n 'vuur- ding', 'n ǀae-xui, vgl. Kr.-R. 1969 NW 11 vir ǀaib ens. Die Y- in Ysis, Engelse uitspraak, is die ǀae- = 'vuur'. Die -si- is lokatief, die fern. sing, -s bepaaldelik van die 'kolk' waar die tontelbos aangetref moes gewees het. Die 'Kolk (-s) waar (-si-) die tontelbos, of vuurbos (ǀae-) voorkom'. Die huidige naam 'Tontelboskolk' vir ’n 'vloer' daar vertaal die ou naam Ysis wat nog die naam van die plaas is oostelik van die -kolk.
