Goubeeb(Kop), Goubeep

Gougebeebkop' is about South South of Pofadder. It stretches over the farms 'stone golden' and 'Klercks Goubep'. On the south-eastern side, Klercks Gouquep bordered by 'wolf head' No. 1835/1912, on the south border thereof is 'wolf-head'. For 'wolf' is o.a. ǃ Soon-B recorded (Rest 1960 DNW 74) which sounds good with the member soon - of Goubeeb / p. The second member, viz. -Bee-, is a locative, such as Namabe, the lock -p / b, masc. Singing., especially used for indicating rivers and, like here, heads or mountains. It looks linguistically and geographically possible that 'wolf-head' can be the (partial) translation of Goubeeb (head). On the corresponding topographical map 1975, the name is given as Coubeep; so 'stone Coubeep', 'Coubeepkop', 'Clerks Coubeep', 'Red Coubeep' and 'Sand Coubeep'.

afr Goubeebkop' is ongeveer suidsuidwes van Pofadder. Dit strek oor die plase 'Klip Goubiep' en 'Klercks Goubiep'. Aan die suidoostelike kant word Klercks Goubiep begrens deur 'Wolf Kop' nr 1835/1912, op die suidgrens daarvan is 'Wolfkop'. Vir 'wolf' is o.a. ǃgou-b opgeteken (Rust 1960 DNW 74) wat klankmatig goed met die lid Gou- van Goubeeb/p oor- eenstem. Die tweede lid, nl. -bee-, is ’n lokatief, soos Nama -be-, die slot -p/b, masc. sing., word veral gebruik vir die aanduiding van riviere en, soos hier, koppe of berge. Dit lyk dan taalkundig en geografies moontlik dat 'Wolfkop' die (gedeeltelike) vertaling van Goubeeb(kop) kan wees. Op die ooreenstemmende Topografiese kaart 1975 word die naam Gou- beeb aangegee as Coubeep; so 'Klip Coubeep', 'Coubeepkop', 'Klerks Coubeep', 'Rooi Coubeep' en 'Sand Coubeep'.
