One who did not mention us but for which we now get topographical support is a connection with 11kae- [11khae] = river, driving or fine sand (Rest 1960 DNW 51). In the north-western corner of the farm Kaip is on the topographical series 1:50 000 1970 sheet 2918 ca kaip 'white sand', and south of it, but now across the border, 'Witsand's mountain', we think these Afrikaans names are (Partial) Translations of the Khoekhoen name Kaip is, the lock -p of Kaip is like Nama -B, the Masc. Sing, locative morpheme.
