The Census map of 1891 already gives a 'Doom Fountain' with a 'W. Portion' and an 'E. Portion 'Where an unnamed river (today the Komaggas River) on the banks of which' Doom Fountain 'lie, in the Buffels River from the south. The two' Portions 'correspond to' Doornfontein West 'No 196 and' Doornfontein- East 'No. 319 from later, cf. S.A. Series 1975 Scale 1:50 000 2917 CB Wolfberg. The old Khoekhozen name, we now meet us elsewhere than at Rev Engelbrecht. Gordon mentions a cocabassi (th a ** 733), but the place lies at 2820 CB. and are not declared by him. We believe Rev Engelbrecht's statement for this Koekabasb is not true to his analysis. Greater chance has a statement in the member doom- (from Doornfontein) and in the member cows of the namanaam the same term, viz. Nama 11khu- = 'Dorn' (Rest 1960 DNW 14). At least until this is the Holnemal name is a translation of the old inland name. The -SE-B is a locative. The middle piece can not be with certainty not declared. is the -ka Stand (who stabbed the child northlot with a poisoned thorn) '? We are ds Engelbrecht grateful that he has kept us the old name.
