ǁKharas
Road east of Penguin Rocks and (just south of it) Robiland le 'Karas pan', on the farm 'Dreyers Pan' No. 192. On the census card of 1891 and the map of Veillet SJ comes the note that here at exactly these points 'Salt Pans' is located, and also the old 'Dreyer's Mine' was preserved in its first element in the farm name. More topographical details contain the SA series 1974 sheet 2916 DB and 2917 CA scale 1:50 000. The Elongated Karaspan is partly surrounded by 'prominent stone banks'. Stone banks are logged in everywhere. In fact, south of Kleinsee lie a beach section called 'Red Lippies'. We believe that Karaspan, and (if he was so called) Karaspoint refers to Nama 11 Khara for gravel pebbles, also flippers (cf. Kr.-R. 1969 NW 221), in or around the pan, and on the Strand present. 'Graispan' and 'gravel point' distinctively.
