The relevant sheet 2917 CA scale 1:50 000 of 1975 gives 'Kannabie Dune' No. 321. The Segsman gives the necessary for the hyponoia of the name. nl. The appearance in sandy driving round of the Kannabie, with edible berries. We assume that the Kannabie is the same plant as those who are described under the entry 'Kanobe' by Claudius when he allegedly accused Simon van der Stel in 1685 to Namaqualand. Smith 1966 CNSAP 277 Identify it as a diospyros sp., Fam. Ebena Ceae. For his native look Smith 594.
