At ao-b = man, mv. masc. Is Ao-GU, the first member of the composition, plus toa = 'Aus signal, Aufhoren, Zu Ende' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 359 and Hahn), 'place where the men came to their end'. The story is best preserved by Backhouse. On our maps and lists, the beautiful name is no longer. Earlier, it named an island and a yard on the south side of Port Nolloth.
