Naab (Se Berg); Naab (Se Koppe)

At Naab's mountain, the ground word is thought of a connection with Namaǃ Na-B = 'Magen' (Rust 1960 DNW 40), at Naab's heads to Namaǃ Na-B = 'Riesen Chrugged' (Aid. 53) or Mountain turtle, firstǃ NaB with deep, the name for mountain turtle with middle tone. Especially the second seems acceptable. But Nab's mountain / heads connect with Naab 2918 and they should probably be declared alike. The mountain and heads then have their name from that old Naab which means 'distress, lack, hardship', the whole 'emergency mountain'. Besides, the statements for the mountain and heads are very recent, the sound is gone out, they are probability statements, while the Van Schultze rests on the people of the time, when Nama was still a lively, active intercourse language .
