Goebees

The -bees are locally builder, here at a 'water', viz. 'More temporary in nature such as collected waters in marshes and rocks after it has arrived' (Segsman Ca van Niekerk, Anegas, Kamieskroon); The good is like Nama ǀǀ Goe = 'Liege, Sich Legen' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 121). 'On the peer' is actually ǀǀ Goe-Am (Aid. 121). 'Look of water' is a good translation. With the localization of the name we have problems. There is a farm with the Spell Goubees on K 3018. The meaning is given under that shape otherwise. In the form 'Goebees' in the topo-cadastral series 1967 sheet 3018 Loeriesfontein no entry of a farm. However, there is a Koubees Revenue 18 km north of Springbok on K 2917 BD (cf. Topographic Series 1974 Skin 2916 Springbok); It's not a farm but is closer to Springbok than Goubees.

eng Kampfer JF 1973 Farmer questionnaire 'Goebees, farm, nearest township Springbok. Means 'clock water'. The farm's name is derived from a marsh. Rocks and 'banks' serve as a reception for rainwater. The name arose a.g.v. A how granite bank, with water for it, during royalty. According to my informant, the hunters (Bushmen and Namas) could stalk the wild from behind the rock bank and look over the bank or there is wild '.
afr Kampfer JF 1973 Boer Vraelys 'Goebees, plaas, naaste dorp Springbok. Beteken ‘loerwater’.

afr Die -bees is lokaliteitsuffiks, hier by ’n 'water', nl. 121). 'loerwater' is ’n goeie vertaling.
