eng There are still many finding farms. Besides the mentioned names Louwaterskloof and Basterskloof, Rietfontein was also known as Claradale. The native name of the Mission Station of the London Missionary Society became disused. The first component AA- is the ╪ā-B of Korana and Nama (Hott 430) for 'reed', 'py 1' (made of reed), and sometimes for 'reed flute'. The second member -Kaap, -'tkaap (thus with sucking consonant) is like Kora ǀ KAH-P (transliterated) at Lichtenstein 1805, which matches (without field) Nama ǀ (k) ab, and may not, as often happen, confuse be with Namaǃ (k) ā-b = river, sprout. Schultze 1904-5 Anuk 159 says O.A. 'Eine Kleine Oder Mittelgosse Version ... In Der Das ... Reganwasher Längere Zeit Stagniert, Ist ǀ A-B'. So AakaN is to understand as 'reed pool', 'Rietkuil'. Topokadastral Map 1960 Skin 2922 Prieska shows that the strong current, a tributary of the Orange River, flows through the farm Riet Vontein No. 134 Hay Q.3-6, and also by farm Riet Kuil No 133 Hay Q.5-6. Die eerste komponent Aa- is die ╪ā-b van Korana en Nama (HOTT 430) vir 'riet', 'py 1' (van riet gemaak), en soms vir 'rietfluit'. Die tweede lid -kaap, -’tkaap (dus met suigkonsonant) is soos Kora ǀkah-p (getranslitereer) by lichtenstein 1805, waarmee ooreenstem (sonder velaar) Nama ǀ(k)a-b, en mag nie, soos dikwels gebeur, verwar word met Nama ǃ(k)ā-b = rivier, spruit, nie. Schultze 1904-5 ANUK 159 sê o.a. 'Eine kleine oder mittelgrosse Vertiefung...in der das...Regenwasser längere Zeit stagniert, ist ǀa-b'. Aakaap is dus te verstaan as 'Rietpoel', 'Rietkuil'. Topokadastrale kaart 1960 vel 2922 Prieska toon aan dat die Sterkstroom, 'n sytak van die Oranjerivier, deur die plaas Riet Vontein nr 134 Hay Q.3-6 vloei, en ook deur plaas Riet Kuil nr 133 Hay Q.5-6.
