afr Kwakwas is plaas nr 318 Q.3-35 en noordwes daarvan grens aan horn die plaas 'Grasgat' nr 319 Q.10-11. Opvallend dat in hierdie graadvierkant (dist. Hay) meer plase die bestanddeel Gras(s)- het, bv. Grassdale, Grassmead. Dit lyk reg dat Kwakwas se naam aansluit by die aangrensende Grasgat, dit is seifs moontlik dat ons ook hier die gewone model het dat Grasgat in der waarheid die inlandse naam Kwakwas kan vertaal. In die geval is die -s (fern, sing.) ook hier die indeks van 'n fontein of waterplek, die -kwa- (tweede lid) dalk te vereenselwig met Nama ǃgoa = 'loch (Graben)' (Rust 1960 DNW 39), en die eerste lid ǀga- = gras. Maar as mnr Schreuder nader aan die waarheid is, dan miskien taalkundig te versoen met die wenk van Krenz FH 1976 Boer 'ǀǀkoa = schmecken = schmackhaft, ǀgas = Gras', so ongeveer 'lekkergras', 'Soetgras'.
