Eytees, Eyties
Eyties' is farm no. q. 7-21, District Kenhardt, directly west of Pofad- der; It borders on 'Pofadder West'. In the southwest corner of 'Pofad- der West', near the border of 'Eyties', the head is 'redhead' with triangle basin No. 27 on it. This gives us the suspicion that the 'member 'ey-' of the name Eyties such as Nama ǀ Ai- [ǀ Ae] = fire (Rest 1960 DNW 21), transfer 'red' for the color pen print. Support for this statement we find that Cabas lying on the north side of Pofadder West and may have been declared 'red' (th a ** 601), and that other place names in the area contain the component 'red' , e.g. 'Red banks'. For the use of 'fire' to express 'red', cf. and Keimas (Mund) and Keimoe in th a ** 684-85. On the corresponding topographical map 1975 'Eyties' is reported as 'Eytees'. The Second member of this name, viz. -Tees or ties, such as the Lo catiefmorfeem - plus the lock -s Fern. Sing, to indicate particular fountains and resources. 'Rooifontein'
