Naramoep

This is the ranging ruling of Haramoeps, alria. Naramoep mean 'wart of the eye', the Khoekhoense name under which Jonker Afrikaner was known (Nama ǀ hara- = wart, and mub = eye). Possibly he had his stay here, and got the mountain and the environment their name of him. The Dental Battle plus H (ǀ H) was heard as the Dental N. H and N- varies often, also in other environments, cf. Th a * 46 under 5 d 6.

afr Dit is die wisseluitspraak van HARAMOEP, alwaar. Naramoep beteken 'Vratjiesoog', die Khoekhoense naam waaronder Jonker Afrikaner bekend was (Nama ǀhara- = vratjie, en mub = oog). Moontlik het hy ’n tydlank hier sy verblyf gehad, en het die berg-en die omgewing hulle naam van horn gekry. Die dentale slag plus h- (ǀh-) is gehoor as die dentale n-. H- en n- wissel mekaar dikwels af, ook in ander omgewings, vgl. TH A* 46 onder 5 D 6.
