Nunigabs (Se Berge)
Nunigabs' mountains' lie in the northern part of the farm Honniams No. Nam. Q. 6-14, District Namaqualand. The name Honniams declared us in th a ** 574 on the authority of Schultze 1904-5 Anuk 169 as 'white hole tree pits', such as Nama ǀ Huni- = the white hole tree, a Boscia species. It looks topographically sure that the member Nuni named Nunigabs river also like Nama ǀ Huni, cf. Th a * 46 at 5 d 6 for the change of n and h. Over the second member, gab (s), we are less sure. This can e.g. be like Nama -Xa- = 'lot' (cf. Nunighabl River) in th a ** 940), or like Namaǃ Ab = 'River' (Rest 1960 DNW 22), or T = GA-B = 'The Fläche, The Ebene; the Vley '(Kr.- Nunigabs will probably be Afrikaans.

Dit lyk topografies seker dat die lid Nuni- van die naam Nunigabs se Rivier ook soos Nama ǀhuni- is, vgl. TH A* 46 by 5 D 6 vir die wisseling van n- en h-. Oor die tweede lid, -gab(s), is ons minder seker. Dit kan bv. wees soos Nama -xa- = 'baie' (vgl. NUNIGHABlRIVIER) in TH A** 940), of soos Nama ǃab = 'rivier' (Rust 1960 DNW 22), of T=ga-b = 'die Fläche, die Ebene; die Vley' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 97). Dit is onwaarskynlik dat Nama 'n ml. ekv. -b sal he wat onmiddellik gevolg is deur ’n vr. ekv. -s; die slot -s van Nunigabs sal dan waarskynlik Afrikaans wees.
