Kawaas

Kaaas' is the name of a non-perennial river running north across the farm Narries No. 7 and joining the Orange River. West and near the Western border of Narries are 'Redberg'. 'Red' is in Nama ǀ Awa, and in Old Cape it is recorded as O.A. Kaba, Kx'awa (Hott 432) that sounds soundly good with the member Kawa van Kaaas. It then seems geographically as well as linguistically possible that there can be a connection between the names red (mountain) and Kawa (AS). We are less certain about the member of Kaaas; Perhaps it is like Nama as = 'Loch' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 2). The lock -s Fern. Description
eng Kaaas' is the name of a non-perennial river running north across the farm Narries No. 1969 NW 2).
